The World Needs to Hear You: how to leverage writing to advance your coaching practice

About this event

Charisse M. Williams began coaching full-time in January, 2020, just seven weeks before the pandemic began. She started writing her first book, The Joy of Thriving While Black in June of 2020 and published it in April, 2021. In this session she will share what inspired the book, her writing process and how becoming an author has catapulted her coaching practice and business to the next level.

Participants will explore the question, “What issue or topic is tugging at your heart?” In small groups, you will identify what mediums you want to use to get that message into the world from blogs, and e-newsletters to writing a book. You will give and receive peer coaching on the next steps you can take to move yourselves forward.

This session will be engaging, interactive and leave participants inspired and motivated to take action!

Learning Objectives:

Learn about how to leverage your writing to generate business opportunities.
Learn how writing a book can reinforce coach expertise and maybe uncover a new niche or sub-niche.
Learn about the Creator Institute, a program that coaches participants in writing their books from inception through publishing.
Commit to a next step in doing more writing.

Participants will earn .5 Core Competency and 1 Resource Development CCEs for attending this program.

Charisse M. Williams is a certified leadership & well-being coach, speaker and author of The Joy of Thriving While Black. Her entire career is dedicated to advancing social justice and well-being for all.

Before becoming a full-time coach, she worked in social justice organizations on human rights, education and racial equity issues. She was the Program Officer for criminal justice and youth development portfolio at Public Welfare Foundation and went on to become the founding director of Posse Atlanta. In her last nonprofit role she was Managing Director of New Site Development for iMentor, and launched its program site in Baltimore, Maryland.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and Juris Doctorate from Northwestern University School of Law. As a certified yoga instructor, she brings a mindfulness lens to all of her work.

A travel enthusiast, Charisse once traveled across Europe with no itinerary, starting in Amsterdam and ending in Marrakech five weeks later. She is insatiably curious about the mind and loves nerdy podcasts like The Hidden Brain on NPR Radio. Charisse lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
